How to install Cydia Apps without WiFi using Cyder 2
A jailbroken iPod Touch or iPhone cannot be fully maximized without installing Cydia apps. Apps like Winterboard, MXTube, QuickGold, etc. can make your iPod Touch much better. There’s a catch though, you need Wifi to install these apps.

Fortunately, there’s this Windows application called Cyder 2 which allows you to download Cydia Apps on your machine and sync it to your iPod via USB.
If you’re interested in this method, you need to know a few things first:
- You must jailbreak your iPod first (you need Cydia installed already)
- You need to add afc2add from Cydia first which requires WiFi (only once though). I covered afc2add here.
- This only works on Windows machine
- You need to restart your iPod after you sync your apps so it will not work for 3rd Gen users
Now that’s out of the way, download Cyder 2, connect your iPod to your machine and let’s begin. What I’m going to do is get me a copy of SBSettings into my iPod Touch using Cyder 2.
SBSettings is a useful tool that allows you to toggle different settings quickly from your homescreen. You don’t need to go to Settings anymore just to turn on or off your Wifi, Adjust Brightness, etc.
1. Unzip Cyder 2 and run the exe file. Once opened, go to the Sources Tab and click Get sources from Cydia. This will pull Cydia sources from your iPod.

2. Click the Play button on top to refresh your sources. This would make sure that the packages in the sources are the latest version.

3. Go to the Packages tab. Since I don’t know where SBSettings is located, I’m going to choose All and just type “SBSettings” on the Filter field.

If you don’t have any apps in mind, feel free to browse the sources or sections.
4. Scroll down the list till you find the app that you are looking for. Right-click on it and click Download with dependencies.

5. Now go to the Downloads tab where you will see your packages. Click the Play button to download the packages.

6. Now go to the File Manager tab where you will see the downloaded packages. On the right window, choose Cydia AutoInstallation.

7. Select all packages from the left window and drag them to the right. You should see a confirmation pop-up window. Click Yes.

8. You should see the packages transferred to the Cydia AutoInstallation.

What this means is that the packages are already in your iPod Touch or iPhone and will be installed once you reboot your device.
9. To finish the installation, you need to reboot your iPod Touch or iPhone twice! I don’t know why it should be that way but it didn’t work on my first reboot.

After rebooting I can now see use SBSettings on my iPod Touch. Swiping my finger on the top area of my screen invokes the SBSettings menu.
Conclusion
Another useful thing about Cyder 2 is that you will have a local copy (archives folder of your Cyder directory) of all your Cydia packages on your machine so in case you will have to re-jailbreak your iPod, you can just sync the apps again.
You can also share Cydia apps including the paid ones with other Cyder users.
