A Vacation Trip to Coron Part 4: Coron Island Loop

The start of our boat trip is on the second day and we did the usual Coron loop which is a tour of its surrounding places. We had breakfast at around 7 AM and prepared for our 8:30 AM trip.

Coron Island Loop

Luckily for us, Amphibi-ko is located near the sea and they have their own dock so our boat can wait for us there. If you stay farther inland, you have to consider the time it takes to get to the nearest dock.

There’s a lot of snorkeling here so better bring your gear with you. The boat rents out snorkeling gear for Php100 but better check for defects first because they don’t bring extras. Bring your aqua shoes if you have ‘em. Bring some bread too!

All entrance fees, meals and snacks are already included in the DIYCoron package that we took.

Siete Pecados

Our first stop was Siete Pecados which is a marine park being maintained by the locals. The place has lots of corals and fishes and tourists usually feed the fishes here with bread.

This is not from an aquarium

The marine park is huge but due to the strong currents that morning, we only stayed near the boat. I’m sure you would see a lot more variety of marine life if you widen your swim area.

Kayangan Lake

Next stop is the cleanest lake in the country, Kayangan Lake. I think this is the most popular destination in Coron. Tourists usually spend their lunch here so the boats arrive early to prepare and cook some food.

Docking area of Kayangan Lake

Better ask your boat guide to bring you here at a later time so you don’t have to share the whole place with a lot of people.

View from the top

When you get off the boat, you still have to hike up a bit. On top, there’s a path branching to the left which will give you a picturesque view of Coron. Better take this souvenir shot.

You have to hike down to the other side to get to Kayangan Lake.

Ahhh... Kayangan Lake

The place is really beautiful especially if there aren’t a lot of people around. You can just lose yourself here floating and enjoying the warm, calm, fresh water.

Our guide told us that lunch was ready (grilled meat and seafood) and we had to hike back to where the boats are parked. You can eat in one of the huts with tables or just do it on the boat.

Barracuda Lake

After a hearty lunch we head out to Barracuda lake. It’s another popular dive spots in Coron because the lake goes down up to 40m where you can enter a cave and the water gets warmer.

Outside Barracuda Lake. Still have to climb up and down.

You also have to hike up and down to get to the lake but the trip is much shorter than Kayangan Lake. The water here is also similar to Kayangan Lake but there are only a few fishes around.

Swimming at Barracuda lake

The ledge here where you can place your stuff and hang out is small so it is not frequented by visitors. No shallow part either so better bring your life vest. We also like it here because the mountain covers us from the sun.

Twin Lagoon

We got to Twin Lagoon just at the right time. That’s when people are already done with the place and the water is still low that you don’t have to dive just to get to the inner lagoon.

Twin lagoon. This one's the outside.

Boats can only wait at the outer lagoon. You will have to swim through a small opening to get to the inner lagoon and this opening is submerged during high tide. It’s only a short swim though.

Going to the inner lagoon

The inner lagoon is surrounded by large limestone formations. The water here is cooler than in the outer lagoon and the place looks really enchanting if there are no people around. The limestone formation offers shade from the afternoon sun. It’s so peaceful in this place!

If you want to take a photo of the inner lagoon. Better bring a waterproof camera.

Skeleton Wreck

After relaxing at a lagoon, it’s time for another round of snorkeling. This time we would see the wreck of sunken Japanese ship aside from more fishes.

Skeleton Wreck

Usually you have to dive to see a wreck but this one’s close to the shore so you can see the outline of the hull while snorkeling. We also gave all our remaining bread to the fishes here.

Banol Beach

To reward us on a tiring day, we were taken to Banol Beach for the rest of the afternoon to have some snacks which is puto and softdrinks (also provided in trip package).

Banol Beach

Although only a short stretch, the beach was beautiful and we were the only guests there (ok there’s a couple but they stayed out of our sight). We occupied a table and just chilled and enjoyed the peaceful afternoon.

After a few hours in the sun and some photo ops, it’s time to head back.

Here are some more photos of our Coron Loop tour. Underwater camera is a must when doing this tour.

The following day will be a relaxing one since we will only be spending it on the beautiful beaches 30-minutes away from Coron. That’s next!

Grabbed another photo from Jai’s camera.

yup kaya siguro pero for about 3-4 hours lang so hindi talaga masulit yung tour. you can’t visit all the places pero make sure you visit kayangan, the corals and twin lagoon. ask for discount kasi half day lang kayo in effect.

  3. cherry says:

un bang banana loop tour hindi kaya ng halfday? same as sarah around 11am kasi dating namin. gusto ko sana un coron loop ang 2nd day.

    • Calvin says:

pwede rin but baka hindi niyo masulit. parang 2-3 hours lang maspend niyo talaga since you can’t stay late if you’re going back. what you can probably do is spend the night at malcapuya and do the coron loop from there.
