Hang in there. We’re getting close to the finish. Tonight there will be two rounds of performance. On the first round, each contestant will be performing a song that they chose and on the second round, a song the judges chose for them.

Let’s see how it goes with their own picks.

Casey James – OK It’s Alright With Me by Eric Hutchinson

It’s alright but not worth a shot to the next round. Randy wants to hear more from him and tells him he can’t do a safe song. Ellen felt the same way as Randy. Kara says he can’t take that song to the next level. Simon says it’s forgettable. It’s the most important night of his life and if it was a dinner, that song would be just a salad.

Crystal Bowersox – Come To My Window by Melissa Ethridge

She started out with the harmonica which was nice but she began to falter in the chorus part. I would like it if she’d be more in tune in the middle parts.

Randy didn’t love the arrangement but he loved her vocal on it. He told Crystal that it was a good song choice. Ellen agrees and thinks that Melissa will be proud of her. Kara thinks she got lost in the arrangement. Simon says it wasn’t the most stunning version of the song but likes that she didn’t compromise herself as an artist.

Lee DeWyze – Simple Man by Lynyrd Skynyrd

Very nice. I like it despite hearing the song for the first time. Love the way the band kicked in.

Randy says it was a brilliant song choice. Ellen’s very proud of Lee telling him that he was like a baby lamb early in the comptition but now he’s a gazelle.. or an impala. Hahaha. Kara says round one belongs to him. Simon says that the song was absolutely on the money. He thinks that Lee not only won round one but he also crushed the other two.

Now the judges chose their song.

Randy and Kara chose this song for him. It didn’t really panned out for me but it was better than the first one. He couldn’t connect with the song but the guitar solo was cool.

Randy told him he should go with songs like this. Ellen says it was beautiful. Kara says it showed his artistic side. Simon thinks the song choice was better than the first but the arrangement was lazy.

Crystal Bowersox – Maybe I’m Amazed by Paul McCartney

Ellen chose this one and I think it was a very good pick. Crystal sang it really well without her guitar but it sounded really odd when she didn’t change the gender on the lyrics.

Randy loved the song and the vocals and thinks that she’s got it in herself to win. Ellen couldn’t have ask for more. Kara says the risky stuff paid off. Simon tells Crystal that she has proven that she got soul. He tells her that she would be thanking Ellen for putting her in the finals.

Lee DeWyze – Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley

Another Hallelujah?! The song was picked by Simon because he thinks Lee could have a moment with it. He sang it much better than Jason Castro. I think it was better than other Hallelujah songs in Idol. Way better!! *Shiver*

Randy was waiting for the whole season on who would throw down the gauntlet and it was Lee. He thinks that it was Lee’s biggest moment and that he was unbelievable. Lee thanked Simon for the song. Ellen said it was stunning. Kara says he’s the heart of the show this season and that he owned the night. Wow! Simon’s very proud of Lee telling him that he showed what a fantastic and great person he is. Lee followed by saying that the song pulled everything out of him. We have the champion here people.

Prediction

It was a very good night especially for Lee. It’s no surprise on who will be battling it out next week. Lee was just phenomenal tonight. Crystal did alright on the first one but redeemed herself on the second round. Casey just fell flat the whole evening. He just doesn’t have what it takes to win this competition. He’s clearly out of Crystal or Lee’s level of commitment and passion. I would be very angry if he makes it to the finals.
