Blogging Tip: Don’t write on a weekend
Here’s a “trend” that I have noticed through years of blogging, traffic goes down on weekends but shoots up on Mondays. Check out the graph of my traffic stats for the past few weeks.

See those dips (circled) in traffic? The only thing that can give a nice jump in traffic on a weekend is if you blog about something “hot” on that particular day. Usually this happens when there are special events like Pacquiao fights.
This shows that less people are online or don’t spend a lot of time on the net during the weekends. Duh!
As a daily blogger, I think it’s important to leverage this phenomenon.
So what can you write on weekends? For me, I write about time-insensitive topics like my “how-to guides”. Topics that people don’t really read when they see it unless they need it. These posts are visited via search engines and not by your daily readers.
Notice how traffic shoots up on Mondays? If you have something really good and relevant, better post it on a Monday to give it maximum exposure.
Then why am I posting this on a Saturday then? That’s what twitter and other social media sites are for. If you think your interesting article did not gain too much reads, tweet it or share it in Facebook on a Monday. Of course, this doesn’t work if you don’t have plenty of followers.
I’m not telling you not to really write on a weekend but try to work your posts around the lack of traffic during weekends. Weekends are a nice time to write because you are more relaxed. If it can wait till Monday, better have it as a scheduled post instead.

Wow, this is really helpful. Thanks Kuya Calvin.
I noticed this as well but it’s a good thing I don’t really write on weekends cause I’m usually out naman. And I just post a comic strip on Sunday because people will read it anyway when they drop by my blog on a Weekday.
Hehehe this is a great tip every new blogger should know.
how long does it take you to do those 4-panel comic strips? galing eh.
Well I already made templates of the characters facial expressions, hands, etc… so I just put them all together and takes a little less than an hour usually.
Thanks!
Ah nice one. I haven’t blogged for quite a while so I worry much about content. I do notice one thing on my own blogs – I get a lot of comments from blogger friends during the weekend.
I have other blogs, and the traffic behavior are very different from each other, depending on the niche I’ve chosen.
