So you have a freshly jailbroken iPod Touch and your friends tell you to quickly get Installous from Cydia so you can download and install cracked apps/games without using a PC. You went to a restaurant that has blazing fast WiFi and downloaded everything you can get your hands on from Installous.
When you get home, you fired up iTunes to sync some music into your iPod. But after your iPod gets backed up and synced, you found out that all your freshly downloaded Installous games were deleted by iTunes. Ack!
Here’s how you can prevent iTunes from deleting apps downloaded via Installous.
1. Open iTunes and plug in your iPod.
2. Before you perform a sync, go to File > Transfer Purchases from “Your device name”.
3. Wait for it to finish and you will see your downloaded apps on iTunes.
That’s it. You can then safely sync your iPod.
You would want to download apps from Installous rather than use a PC to download from Apptrackr.org because they don’t have the same repository. Some apps cannot be found from the other site.
Bonus: How to backup your iPhone Apps (.ipa) into your hard drive
To share your downloaded Installous files to your friends, simply go to the Apps section in iTunes and drag the apps into Windows Explorer. This will give you the IPA files which you can share to friends.
