iPod Touch Guides

I’ve owned my 16GB iPod Touch 2nd Gen for quite some time now and I’ve done a lot of Frankenstein work on it after jailbreaking. Here are some tips and guides for the iPod Touch that I hope would be of value to you.

    Oh what a coincidence!

Paalis na sana ako sa blog mo, tapos bigla kong nakita itong “iPod Touch Guides”!

Just recently owned a 2nd-hand iPod Touch 1st Gen. (8gb) Jailbreak na nung binili ko and iOS version 4.2.1.

Mukhang may bago akong pagkakaabalahan! Maraming salamat nito Calvin!

    Hi Calvin,

I have a problem, hindi ko ma-update/restore ang ipod touch 4G ko. im trying to upgrade into ios 4.3.3

“Unknowned error occurred (3194)” ang sinasabi na message.

ano kaya ang problema ? 4.1 ang ios ko ngayon at itunes 10.4.1.10 naman ang gamit ko.

    • Calvin says:

you can’t anymore. you can only restore to 4.3.5 which is the latest firmware available. you can’t update to a previous firmware version unless you’ve saved your SHSH blob which I would assume you haven’t.

Sorry, better wait for the next jailbreak na lang… baka malamang sa iOS5 na.

  3. harvz says:

ah ganon pala. i tried to save my SHSH blob using tinyumbrella as per your advise. but i don’t think tinyumbrella works on win7 64bit, does it ?

    • Calvin says:

when did you do try to save your SHSH blob? You should’ve done it when iTunes was still serving ioS 4.3.3. Right now it’s only serving ios 4.3.5 so if you’re only doing it now, the SHSH you saved is for downgrading to 4.3.5 in the future. should work in win7. not sure sa 64-bit… maybe use an option to run it in XP. I think may ganun Windows 7 eh.

  4. harvz says:

ah ok. 64bit win7 ang OS ko eh.

nong ininstall ko yun tinyumbrella, nag error sya…ganito ang message na lumabas : “No JVM could be found in your system. Please define EXE4J_JAVA_HOME to point to an installed 32-bit JDM or JRE or download a JRE from http://www.java.com

    Calvin,

Got a question for your iPod Touch guides…

Using IE on the desktop, when you right click a link there is a ‘Save link as…’ option. This is useful for mp3 links when you just want to download them instead of it being streamed (default). The default Android browser and the Dolphin browser has something similar when you long press on an mp3 link.

Now I just got myself an iPod Touch and found out there is no similar option in Safari on the iOS. Would you know a workaround for this?

    Thanks!

    • Calvin says:

hehe nope… iOS doesn’t allow saving of mp3 files from the browser. what you need is an app like Filer. It has its own browser and file manager. Pero i’m not sure though if you download an mp3 file, you can send it to your music app. ginagamit ko kasi filer to download pdfs na naka zip, rar eh.
